On March 14, the new Gilded Steamer service launched in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, where it is expected to reach a total of 15,000 passengers, including a small number of VIP guests, for a total cost of HK$3.6 billion ($2.4 billion).
The steamer service, which will begin in the Hong Kong harbor and run from March 22 to March 28, is the first of its kind in Asia.
The company, which specializes in luxury steams, has not set a specific destination for the steams.
The Gilded steams will be steamed from Hong Kong and will arrive at Shenzhen for the Hongkongers to enjoy the city’s famous seafood and wine.
The service has been created by a team of eight young Chinese designers, including Zhang Xuesong, the founder of Hong Kong-based footwear and apparel brand Xuesongs, who was a top-tier designer in the West.
Zhang said the design team has created a stylish and functional service that can be enjoyed by all.
Xuesongs launched its Gilded service in March 2016 in Hong Kong.
It is an entirely Chinese brand, and the team of designers has been inspired by the country’s history, geography, food, fashion and architecture.
Xueongs is the second major Chinese fashion company to offer luxury steamed steams in Asia, following Kama Sutra, a luxury steamer that opened in Shanghai in 2015.
The new Gilding service will offer steams that are priced around HK$2,000 ($1,000) for a limited time.
