By Marielle K. JohnsonPublished Nov 07, 2018 07:14:18A few months after he took over as chief executive officer of Barbour, Brian Lutz has been appointed president and chief operating officer of the company’s flagship garment brand.

Barbour announced Monday that Lutz will be in charge of the day-to-day operations and operations of the garment business and serve as the company CEO for the remainder of his tenure.

The announcement comes after Lutz, the son of fashion designer and founder of Lutz & Berg, stepped down from the company last year amid the company facing criticism over its labor practices. 

Lutz is known as a hard-charging executive and a loyal partner.

He has taken on challenging projects that include fashion houses like Versace, and also helped establish and oversee a clothing line called The American. 

Barbour has been the subject of a number of lawsuits over its garment manufacturing practices, which critics said were often exploitative and exploitative at best.

Barbarian Hills, which Lutz founded in 1994, was acquired by the American Eagle Outfitters last year. 

“Barbour’s commitment to high quality, innovative and innovative-looking apparel has always been central to our mission,” Lutz said in a statement.

“It is a privilege to continue working alongside such a respected and trusted brand, and I’m thrilled to be leading the company forward.”

Lutz’s appointment comes after the company announced its intention to move its manufacturing operations from China to New Jersey. 

In an interview with Fortune, Lutz also revealed that the new company will continue to use the American eagle brand and that the brand is “still in the early stages of development.”

Barbour also announced that the company plans to continue using the name Barbour and that it will begin to use an alternate logo, as well as other brand names and logos, in the coming months.
